The RTCPL series combines the functions of a logarithmic amplifier with that of a constant phase limiter. While a "limited IF output" is available on most log amps, RTI's new RTCPL series has a unique feature: the transmission phase through the amplifier will remain constant within +/- 6 degrees over the input dynamic range. The constant phase feature permits the log amplifier to serve a dual purpose: logarithmic amplitude detection and limited IF output and phase for I & Q detection.
